Violin and Viola Classes (Pre-K and up)

Pre-K Violin:
Introduction to the basics of violin playing for pre-schoolers. PARENT/CAREGIVER required to attend class with their child! Curriculum is based on a modified Suzuki approach, starting with “Pre-Twinkle” songs/rhythms/activities. Students will learn the basics of violin technique, how to hold the bow, left hand wrist and finger position and correct posture. Special emphasis is placed on tone quality and memorization. Instructional videos designed by our staff are available on YouTube for parents to assist with their children’s progress!
Beginner Violin (Pre-Twinkle)
Beginner Violin/Viola
Beginner Violin/Viola Grades 1-3

Beginner Violin/Viola Grades 4-6
For those students who have never played before. Curriculum is based on a modified Suzuki approach, starting with “Pre-Twinkle” songs/rhythms/activities. Upon completion of the “Pre-Twinkle” manual, students will begin study in Suzuki Book 1. Students will learn the basics of violin/viola technique, how to hold the bow, left hand wrist and finger position and correct posture. Special emphasis is placed on tone quality and memorization. Violin-Suzuki Bk. 1 (Pre-Etude):
For students who have mastered Twinkle Theme & Variations and are working out of Suzuki Book 1 (including songs up to Etude).
Violin-Suzuki Bk. 1 (Etude+):
For students who are working out of Suzuki Book 1 and have mastered Etude. Depending on age and experience, Essential Elements for Strings method may also be used to teach note-reading and rhythm.
Violin-Suzuki Bk. 2:
For continuing students studying out of Suzuki Book 2. Class is taught in conjunction with Essential Elements for Strings (note-reading, scales and repertoire up to 3 sharps and flats).
Violin-Suzuki Bk. 3:
For continuing students studying out of Suzuki Book 3. Class is taught in conjunction with Essential Elements for Strings (note-reading, scales and repertoire up to 3 sharps and flatsand their relative minor keys.) Introduction of 3rd position and vibrato technique.
